Formula, assumptions, and limits
CO₂ (t) = Fuel mass (t) × Cf (t CO₂ / t fuel)
Cf assumes complete combustion and accounts for the carbon content of each fuel plus the stoichiometric oxygen mass gained on combustion. VLSFO, HFO, and ULSFO share the same 3.114 Cf because their carbon-to-hydrogen ratios are virtually identical.
