Mass-balance method for fuel consumed per IMO MEPC.282(70) and EU MRV - the default where a mass-flow meter is not fitted.
Formula
$$ F_\text{cons} = \text{ROB}_\text{start} + \text{BDN} - \text{ROB}_\text{end} - \text{Debunkered} $$Symbol legend
| Symbol | Meaning | Unit | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| $F_\text{cons}$ | Fuel consumed during the reporting period | t | result |
| $\text{ROB}_\text{start}$ | Remaining on board at period start | t | sounding |
| $\text{BDN}$ | Bunker-delivered-note quantity received | t | BDN |
| $\text{ROB}_\text{end}$ | Remaining on board at period end | t | sounding |
| $\text{Debunkered}$ | Fuel de-bunkered or transferred out | t | transfer log |
Reconcile per fuel type - do not aggregate different fuels into one $F_\text{cons}$ or the Cf becomes undefined. CO₂ is $F_\text{cons} \cdot C_f$ from MEPC.364(79).
