Voluntary class notation from DNV for environmental performance beyond MARPOL.
Eligibility criteria
CLEAN (all four required):
- Garbage management + incinerator per MARPOL Annex V.
- Sewage treatment system, Type-II approved per MEPC.227(64).
- Bilge oily-water separator ≤ 15 ppm with alarm.
- TBT-free anti-fouling, AFS Convention compliant.
CLEAN DESIGN (CLEAN plus all four design features):
- Double-bottom for fuel / lube oil tanks.
- IMO type-approved Ballast Water Treatment System.
- Bio-degradable stern-tube lubricant.
- Sludge burner and dry-dump capability.
