Wall-Wash Chloride Check
Detect chloride contamination in cleaned tanks via silver-nitrate reaction. Threshold: 1 ppm (1 mg/L) for methanol / ultra-clean cargo.

Formula, assumptions, and limits
Chloride reacts with AgNO₃ to form insoluble AgCl → cloudiness. Modern turbidimetric methods (IP 474) give quantitative results down to 0.1 ppm. Sources: sea water, chlorinated cleaning water, last-cargo residue. Wall-wash also tests hydrocarbons (PMC) and colour (APHA).
