Waterplane Area Coefficient (Cwp)
Ratio of waterplane area to enclosing L × B rectangle - drives TPC and BMt.
Waterplane coefficient Cwp
0.813–
Formula, assumptions, and limits
Cwp typical: tanker/bulker 0.82–0.88, container 0.70–0.80, Ro-Pax 0.70–0.78. Higher Cwp → larger TPC, stiffer transverse stability.
