Block Coefficient (Cb)
Ratio of displacement volume to the enclosing L·B·T block - the most-cited hull fullness indicator.
Block coefficient Cb
0.710–
Formula, assumptions, and limits
Typical Cb: VLCC 0.85, bulker 0.82, container 0.62–0.72, ferry 0.55–0.65, naval destroyer 0.50. Low Cb → fine form, high wave-making at speed; high Cb → bluff form, frictional-dominant.
