Squat (Barrass)
Maximum squat in metres using the Barrass simplified formula for open water and canal / shallow conditions.
Max squat
4.80m
Formula, assumptions, and limits
Barrass (1979) empirical. k_canal = 2 for restricted water (typ. h/T < 1.5). Dynamic squat is measured at the forward perpendicular; the ship sinks bodily and trims by the bow (full hulls) or stern (fine hulls).
