Typical 174k m³ LNGC carries 1000–1500 t LNG as heel - enough to maintain −162 °C in inner tank for 3 weeks ballast and the initial cool-down-on-arrival. Insufficient heel → full cool-down at load port costs a day + LNG for the spray.
