End-of-Life Recycling GHG
Emissions from ship recycling - towing to yard, beaching or dry-docking, dismantling, steel recovery, waste disposal. Net balance is usually NEGATIVE (CO₂ avoided) because recovered scrap steel displaces virgin blast-furnace steel.

Formula, assumptions, and limits
Scrap-steel credit = recovered mass × (BF-BOF emission factor minus EAF scrap-based factor). World-average avoided emission is ~1.3 t CO₂ per tonne of scrap that displaces virgin steel at destination mills.
