IMSBC Angle of Repose
Angle of repose test (ISO 3435 / IMSBC 9.1) for Group C cargoes - governs shifting behaviour in partially filled holds.
Handling implication
Low angle - high risk of shifting. Trimming level or special precautions required.
Formula, assumptions, and limits
Static pile method: pour bulk sample, measure cone height vs base radius. Low angle (< 30°) means cargo can shift easily in a seaway - requires trimmed level or over-stowed with another layer per IMSBC Section 5.
