CCAI - Calculated Carbon Aromaticity Index
Ignition-quality index for residual marine fuels. CCAI = ρ₁₅ − 81 − 141·log(log(ν₅₀ + 0.85)). Values > 870 correlate with hard-starting and combustion noise.

Formula, assumptions, and limits
$$CCAI = \rho_{15} - 81 - 141 \cdot \log_{10}(\log_{10}(\nu_{50} + 0.85))$$
ISO 8217 table - RMG 380 typical CCAI 830–870; RMK 700 can reach 870–880. Above 880 operators commonly raise injection timing and charge-air temperature to mitigate ignition delay.
